Elena is a conservative who enjoys annoying her liberal parents. Mostly recently, she bought a gun for Christmas just to bug them. She went to a shooting range and discovered that while she liked shooting, she disliked the overly masculine atmosphere. So Elena has borrowed money from her husband Nick to open a more feminine gun range called Bloodbath and Beyond. Elena expects an opening sometime in 2012.
Elena is the founder of the Beckinfield Preservation Society, which currently has had only one event, a Speed Dating function.
Despite being Hispanic, Elena does not know much Spanish, although she occasionally has been known to have a tirade against others using whatever Spanish words she happens to know in whatever order she feels like using them.
Elena attends the Book Club at Beckinfield Public Library every Saturday, although she does not enjoy the company of any of the other attendees except Matt Denton, who she considers to be her "new BFF." Matt enjoys his time with Elena, even though he's usually just trying to keep up with her and never really quite sure how he ends up in the situations with her that he does.
